About the Age Calculator
Birthdays do not align neatly with calendar months, so "how old am I exactly?" is surprisingly fiddly. This calculator does proper calendar math: it accounts for months of different lengths and leap years, giving your exact age in years, months and days as of any date you choose — today by default. It also shows the total number of days you have lived and counts down to your next birthday.
How the age is computed
The calculator starts from the difference between the two dates, then "borrows" from months and years when the day or month of the target date is earlier than in the birth date. For example, from June 15, 1990 to March 3, 2026 is 35 years, 8 months and 16 days — a hand calculation that most people would get wrong.
Common uses: verifying age requirements (forms, sports leagues, school enrollment), calculating ages for official documents, or settling the eternal "but I'm only 29 and a half" debate with precision.
Frequently asked questions
How does the calculator handle leap years?
It uses real calendar arithmetic, so February 29 birthdays and leap-year spans are counted correctly. Total days lived is the exact number of midnights between the two dates, including leap days.
Can I calculate age at a past or future date?
Yes. The "Age at date" field accepts any date. Leave it empty to use today. This is handy for "how old was I on graduation day" or "how old will I be in 2030" questions.
Why does months + days differ between calculators?
Some calculators approximate a month as 30 days, which drifts over long spans. This one uses true calendar months, matching how governments and forms define age (years completed, then remaining months and days).
Is my date of birth stored?
No. Everything is computed locally in your browser; nothing is transmitted anywhere.
